Five Best Brunch Spots in Pittsburgh

Spring has sprung and it’s getting to be brunch season! According to the locals (and my experiences), the top five best brunch locations in Pittsburgh are Pamela’s Diner, DeLuca’s Diner, The Urban Tap, The Yard, and Waffles INCaffeinated. Spread around Pittsburgh, these five places serve a variety of breakfast foods and savory lunch options that are perfect for the family. Get some family/friends together and try these popular spots!

#1: Pamela’s Diner

Pamela’s is a diner located in the Strip District, Mt. Lebanon, Shadyside, Millvale, and Oakland. Open since 1980, it is a casual sit-down location that is perfect for the family. Some classics at Pamela’s are their crepe-style pancakes, omelets, and Lyonnaise potatoes. I recommend grabbing breakfast here pronto!

#2: Deluca’s Diner

Deluca’s is a crowd favorite in Pittsburgh. The original location is in the Strip District, and a new location opened in 2013 in Robinson Township. Deluca’s is a cozy, old-fashion American diner. This diner has big servings and good quality breakfast food, as well as burgers and sandwiches for lunch. This diner features all types of breakfast, from pancakes, crepes, omelets, and mixed grill options to cheeseburgers and hoagies for lunch. This place is a must-visit!

#3: The Urban Tap

The Urban Tap is a modern gastropub and draft house. Brunch, happy hour, dinner — Urban Tap has it all. The two locations in Pittsburgh are Shadyside and Southside. The brunch menu consists of appetizers, benedicts, sweets, savories, sandwiches, and a wide brunch beverage selection. My personal favorite is the Breakfast Egg Rolls. This place is perfect for a day out with some friends.

#4: The Yard

Starting in 2014, The Yard is a newer restaurant that dominates Pittsburgh. Located in Shadyside, Market Square, Mount Lebanon, and Robinson, this restaurant is known for its specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, but they also have a fantastic brunch menu that not enough people talk about. The Yard has a unique variety of brunch options, including breakfast flatbreads, breakfast burritos, and the Mac Attack’s Breakfast, which is mac n cheese with steak, gravy, a fried egg, and home fries. If you are looking for a less traditional brunch, this is your place!

#5: Waffles INCaffeinated

Waffles INCaffeinated is a great place for waffle lovers. This restaurant prepares its dishes from scratch using a variety of ingredients. It’s perfect for your sweet tooth. However, their brunch menu also has some savory options! It includes waffles, omelets, French toast, and sandwiches. It’s perfect for family and friends. Their signature latte is worth the trip in itself. A fan-favorite at Waffles is the Funky Monkey waffle, which contains chocolate chips, fresh bananas, house-made peanut butter chiffon, and waffles inc fudge sauce. They are in Wexford, Downtown Pittsburgh, and Southside. Treat yourself when visiting here!
